Vegetarian Gravy

Description

This is a delicious vegetarian gravy!

Ingredients

  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ⅓ cup chopped onion
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons nutritional yeast
  • 4 tablespoons light soy sauce
  • 2 cups vegetable broth
  • ½ teaspoon dried sage
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat; stir in onion and garlic. Cook and stir until onion has softened and turned translucent
  2. about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in flour
  4. nutritional yeast
  5. and soy sauce to form a smooth paste. Gradually whisk in broth. Season with sage
  6. salt
  7. and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat
  8. and simmer
  9. stirring constantly
  10. for 8 to 10 minutes
  11. or until thickened.
