Turmeric Golden Milk with Turmeric Paste

Description

Soothes a cold or sore throat, helps you to sleep better, etc…. Warm and delicious, great just before bed every evening. The recipe for turmeric paste yields enough for a few weeks. Store in the refrigerator; reheat it in small amounts as needed.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup ground turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon water, or as needed
  • 2 cups almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon extra-virgin coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon raw honey

Instructions

  1. Make paste: Combine 1/2 cup water
  2. turmeric
  3. and pepper in a small saucepan over low heat. Cook
  4. stirring constantly
  5. until thickened
  6. 7 to 9 minutes. Stir in 1 teaspoon water and continue cooking until thickened into a paste
  7. 7 to 9 minutes. Allow to cool completely
  8. 15 to 20 minutes. Store turmeric paste in an airtight glass jar in the refrigerator.
  9. Make milk: Whisk together almond milk
  10. 1 teaspoon turmeric paste
  11. coconut oil
  12. ginger
  13. and cinnamon in a saucepan. Place over low heat until hot
  14. about 5 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in honey. Strain milk mixture into 2 mugs.
