The Original Fantasy Fudge

Description

This recipe used to be found on the back of a well known brand of marshmallow cream. Many were surprised when it was changed. This is the original! You may find that most packages of chocolate chips are 10 ounces now; 12 ounces of chocolate chips is roughly 2 cups.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups white sugar
  • ¾ cup margarine
  • ⅔ cup evaporated milk
  • 1 (12 ounce) package semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 (7 ounce) jar marshmallow creme
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13-inch pan.
  2. Mix sugar
  3. margarine
  4. and evaporated milk in a large
  5. heavy saucepan over medium heat
  6. stirring to dissolve sugar. Bring mixture to a full boil and cook for 5 minutes
  7. stirring constantly.
  8. Remove from the heat and add chocolate chips; stir until chocolate chips are melted and mixture is thoroughly combined. Stir in marshmallow cream until incorporated. Mix in walnuts and vanilla.
  9. Transfer fudge to the prepared pan and use an offset spatula to spread out and flatten. Let cool for at least 1 hour before cutting into squares.
