Sweet Cornbread Loaf

Description

This cornbread loaf is the perfect accompaniment to your favorite stew, ham and beans, soup, or fried fish!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cornmeal
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 5×9-inch loaf pan.
  2. Mix cornmeal
  3. buttermilk

  6. vegetable oil
  7. salt
  8. and baking soda in a bowl until thoroughly combined. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven until top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean or with moist crumbs
