Sweet Corn Bread

Description

This corn bread goes well with just about anything. I always make it when we have chili. The sour cream makes it nice and moist.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ⅓ cup milk
  • ¼ cup butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C). Lightly grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
  2. Combine flour
  3. cornmeal
  4. sugar
  5. baking powder
  6. baking soda
  7. and salt in a large bowl. Mix egg
  8. sour cream
  9. milk
  10. and butter in a small bowl. Fold egg mixture into flour mixture until just moistened; pour into prepared baking dish.
  11. Bake in preheated oven until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean
  12. 20 to 25 minutes. Serve warm.
