Steel-Cut Oatmeal

Description

Delicious and hearty breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups water
  • 1 dash salt
  • 1 cup steel-cut oats
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup cashews
  • ¼ cup sweetened dried cranberries (such as Ocean Spray® Craisins®)
  • 2 tablespoons flaked coconut
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch white sugar, or to taste (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring water and salt to a boil in a saucepan. Stir oats into boiling water; cook oats until thick and soft
  2. 20 to 30 minutes.
  3. Stir milk
  4. cashews
  5. cranberries
  6. coconut
  7. vanilla extract
  8. and cinnamon into cooked oats; continue cooking
  9. stirring frequently
  10. for 10 minutes more.
  11. Sprinkle sugar over oats to serve.
