Sourdough Coffee Cake

Description

This recipe was traded to me for sourdough starter I had to share. It is quick and tasty.

Ingredients

  • cooking spray
  • 2 cups sourdough starter, at room temperature
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • ⅔ cup oil
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 scant teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup butter, softened
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter, at room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan with cooking spray.
  2. Combine sourdough starter
  3. flour
  4. sugar
  5. oil
  6. baking powder
  7. salt
  8. and cinnamon in a bowl; beat with an electric mixer until smooth and thick. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  9. Mix brown sugar
  10. softened butter
  11. and cinnamon in a bowl until evenly moistened. Sprinkle topping over the cake batter.
  12. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean
  13. about 30 minutes.
  14. Meanwhile
  15. mix melted butter
  16. milk
  17. and vanilla in a bowl with a fork until smooth. Drizzle glaze over the coffee cake while the cake is still hot.
