Soft Garlic Parmesan Breadsticks

Description

These are better than the ones served at pizza parlors! I usually have to make two batches, because they go so fast! I use my food processor to do the mixing.

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups bread flour
  • 3 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter, softened
  • ¼ cup hot water
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup butter, melted
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Fit your food processor with a steel blade. Place the bread flour
  2. yeast
  3. sugar
  4. salt
  5. Italian seasoning
  6. garlic
  7. 1/4 cup grated Parmesan and softened butter in the processor; pulse to blend. Stir together hot water
  8. milk and egg. Start the processor and slowly pour in the milk mixture into the feed tube until a ball forms around the blade. Run for 30 seconds to knead. Remove dough from processor and knead briefly by hand. Lightly oil a large bowl
  9. place the dough in the bowl and turn to coat with oil. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume
  10. about 1 hour.
  11. Deflate the dough
  12. and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll the dough into a 10×12 inch rectangle. Use a knife or pizza cutter to slice the dough lengthwise into ten strips
  13. and then cut these strips in half. Brush tops of strips with 2 tablespoons melted butter
  14. and sprinkle with 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Cover
  15. and let rise until nearly double
  16. about 30 minutes. Meanwhile
  17. preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  18. Bake in preheated oven for 18 to 23 minutes
  19. or until golden brown. Turn broiler on
  20. and brush breadsticks with remaining melted butter and Parmesan cheese. Broil just until the cheese starts to turn light brown
  21. about 2 to 3 minutes. Serve warm.
