Slow Cooker Homemade Beans

Description

A delicious taste of homemade beans which can be served as a main course or as a side dish. Especially great for football Sundays, or frozen for a later occasion.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups dry navy beans, soaked overnight or boiled for one hour
  • 1 ½ cups ketchup
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon dry mustard
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 6 slices thick cut bacon, cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 1 cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Drain soaking liquid from beans; place them in a slow cooker.
  2. Stir bacon
  3. onion
  4. ketchup
  5. water
  6. brown sugar
  7. molasses
  8. mustard
  9. and salt into beans until well mixed.
  10. Cover and cook on Low for 8 to 10 hours; stir occasionally if possible.
