- 5 slices thick-cut reduced-sodium bacon, chopped
- 1 stalk celery, minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 sprig fresh rosemary, leaves stripped and finely chopped
- 1 red squash – peeled, seeded, and cubed
- 1 large carrot, peeled and minced
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 gallon chicken stock, or more as needed
- salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
