Description
Great Southern white gravy. Pepper and sage are prominent flavors in this gravy.
Ingredients
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon rubbed sage
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
- Melt butter in a 4-quart pot or cast iron skillet over medium heat. Stir in flour until a paste forms. Cook
- stirring constantly
- until flour is a light golden color
- 5 to 10 minutes. Add milk
- whisking vigorously. Season with pepper

- and onion powder. Cook until thickened but not boiling
- about 5 minutes.
