Sausage Steamed Dinner

Description

A one pot dinner with sausage, cabbage, and root vegetables – Easy and hearty – Great on a cold winter night! Serve with cornbread or a crusty farmhouse type bread.

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ pounds smoked sausage
  • 2 pounds ham hocks
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into large chunks
  • 1 rutabaga, peeled and cut into large chunks
  • 6 turnips, peeled and cut into large chunks
  • 6 carrots, peeled and cut into large chunks
  • 2 onions, cut into large chunks
  • 1 large head cabbage, quartered
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper, or to taste
  • 1 quart water

Cook Time: 45 mins

Total Time: 1 hr
