Ruth’s Grandma’s Pie Crust

This recipe is over 100 years old. My sister-in-law’s grandmother said it was a no-fail recipe. It’s the best I ever had.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ¾ cups shortening
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup water

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl
  2. combine all-purpose flour
  3. shortening
  4. sugar
  5. and salt. Blend together with a pastry cutter until crumbly.
  6. In a small bowl
  7. mix egg with water. Blend into flour mixture. Chill in refrigerator until ready to use.
