Quick Yeast Rolls

Description

This easy yeast roll recipe was given to me by my Great, Great Grandmother. I used it a couple of years ago in our state fair and received first place.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons shortening
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Mix hot water
  2. sugar
  3. and shortening in a large bowl. Let cool until lukewarm.
  4. Stir in yeast until dissolved
  5. then mix in flour
  6. egg
  7. and salt. Cover and let dough rise until doubled in size
  8. about 30 minutes.
  9. Grease 8 muffin cups. Divide dough equally into the prepared muffin cups. Let rise again until doubled in size
  10. about 30 minutes.
  11. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  12. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown on top and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean
  13. about 10 minutes.

Cook Time: 10 mins

Total Time: 1 hr 40 mins
