Patty’s Mashed Turnips

Description

The smell of hot buttery turnips always reminds me of the holiday season when my grandmother prepared this dish for the family. Originally submitted to ThanksgivingRecipe.com.

Ingredients

  • 7 large turnips
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • salt to taste
  • ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and cook turnips until tender
  2. 35 to 45 minutes. Strain and rinse.
  3. Mash turnips with a fork in a large mixing bowl. Add milk and butter. Blend to desired consistency and season with salt and pepper.
