Description
This no-meat Cholent recipe is always a hit. You can add meat if you like, but most people don’t even realize that the meat is missing.
Ingredients
- 1 cup dry kidney beans
- ½ cup dry white beans
- ½ cup barley
- 2 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 large sweet potato, peeled and cubed
- 1 large onion, cut into chunks
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ⅔ cup ketchup
- ¼ cup barbeque sauce
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 4 cups water, or more as needed to cover
Instructions
- Place kidney beans
- white beans
- barley
- potatoes
- sweet potato
- onion
- garlic
- ketchup
- barbeque sauce
- soy sauce
- brown sugar
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- paprika
- pepper
- salt
- and water in a slow cooker. Mix well. Cook on High for 3 hours
- then reduce heat to Low and continue cooking overnight until the beans are tender.
