Description

Old family recipe that my family made for me when I was a little girl back in Samoa.

Ingredients

  • 1 (12 ounce) package frozen dinner rolls dough, thawed
  • 15 ounces water, divided
  • 1 (14 ounce) can coconut milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Arrange rolls in a 9×13-inch baking dish
  2. cover the dish with plastic wrap
  3. and let rise until doubled in size
  4. about 30 minutes.
  5. Combine 14 ounces water
  6. coconut milk
  7. and sugar in a saucepan. Whisk remaining water and cornstarch together in a small bowl. Bring coconut milk mixture to a boil
  8. whisk in cornstarch mixture
  9. reduce heat to medium-low
  10. and simmer
  11. stirring occasionally
  12. until sauce thickens
  13. about 3 minutes.
  14. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Remove plastic wrap from rolls.
  15. Bake rolls in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Pour coconut sauce over rolls until at least half of each roll is covered in sauce. Return rolls to oven; continue baking until rolls are golden brown
  16. 5 to 10 minutes more. Cool in the baking dish
  17. 3 to 5 minutes
  18. before serving warm.
