Miso-Glazed Salmon

Description

Delicious and simple to prepare, this recipe takes nearly an instant to prepare, especially when your young sous-chefs join you in the kitchen.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup sake
  • ¼ cup miso paste
  • ¼ cup mirin (Japanese sweet wine)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 4 (6 ounce) salmon fillets
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the sake
  2. miso paste
  3. mirin
  4. soy sauce
  5. and brown sugar in a baking dish. Add the salmon
  6. and allow to rest for 5 minutes before flipping the fillets over in the marinade to coat. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.
  7. Bring salmon to room temperature
  8. about 15 minutes
  9. then remove salmon from the marinade
  10. and shake off excess. Discard the remaining marinade.
  11. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Arrange salmon in the skillet
  12. and cook until the fish flakes easily with a fork
  13. about 4 minutes on each side. Transfer the fish to a plate and garnish with basil.
