Local Kine Wontons

Description

Cream cheese and crab wontons Hawaiian style! Serve with sweet and sour sauce and Chinese mustard, or with sweet chili sauce. These can also be frozen.

Ingredients

  • 1 quart oil for deep frying
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 (12 ounce) package imitation crabmeat, flaked
  • 1 (5 ounce) can water chestnuts, drained and chopped
  • 5 green onions, chopped
  • 2 (14 ounce) packages wonton wrappers

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large
  2. heavy saucepan to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  3. Mix cream cheese
  4. crabmeat
  5. water chestnuts
  6. green onions
  7. and soy sauce together in a medium bowl.
  8. Place about 1 teaspoon cream cheese mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper. Fold into wrappers into triangles and seal the edges with moistened fingers.
  9. Working in small batches
  10. fry wontons in the hot oil until golden brown
  11. 3 to 4 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
