Hot Fudge Sauce II

Description

This is a great hot fudge sauce to use for almost any chocolate dessert. My mom gave me this recipe with a note that said, ‘Use this sauce over brownies and vanilla ice cream to make ‘Eskimo Pie Delight’. It was a favorite of mine from college.

Ingredients

  • 4 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Place chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. Cook on high for 1 to 2 minutes
  2. stirring frequently
  3. until mostly melted. Transfer chocolate to a heavy-bottomed saucepan over low heat. Stir in sugar
  4. butter
  5. and salt until combined.
  6. Stir in cream
  7. a little at a time
  8. until smooth. Heat through
  9. without boiling
  10. then remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Store sauce in the refrigerator.
