Hot Bacon Dressing

Description

This is a recipe that my great grandmother made. You can serve this over cucumbers, cabbage or dandelion greens.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices bacon
  • 1 ½ cups white sugar
  • 3 teaspoons cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ cup white vinegar

Instructions

  1. Place bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat
  2. turning occasionally
  3. until evenly browned
  4. about 10 minutes. Drain bacon slices on paper towels
  5. then crumble and set aside.
  6. Whisk together sugar
  7. cornstarch
  8. and salt in a medium bowl. Slowly pour in vinegar and water
  9. whisking constantly.
  10. Place crumbled bacon in a medium skillet over medium heat. Pour in vinegar mixture; cook and stir until mixture thickens.

Cook Time: 8 mins

Total Time: 28 mins
