Description
This is a recipe that my great grandmother made. You can serve this over cucumbers, cabbage or dandelion greens.
Ingredients
- 8 slices bacon
- 1 ½ cups white sugar
- 3 teaspoons cornstarch
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup water
- ½ cup white vinegar
Instructions
- Place bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat
- turning occasionally
- until evenly browned
- about 10 minutes. Drain bacon slices on paper towels
- then crumble and set aside.
- Whisk together sugar
- cornstarch
- and salt in a medium bowl. Slowly pour in vinegar and water
- whisking constantly.
- Place crumbled bacon in a medium skillet over medium heat. Pour in vinegar mixture; cook and stir until mixture thickens.
