Funnel Cakes II

Description

These are Pennsylvania Dutch cakes. The batter is poured through a funnel into cooking oil and fried, then sprinkled with confectioners’ sugar.

Ingredients

  • 1 ⅔ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 quart oil for frying
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • ¼ cup confectioners’ sugar for dusting
