Fried Flour Tortilla Chips

Description

We first had these while on vacation in the Caribbean. After returning, I had to figure out how to make them. We now prefer these to store-bought corn tortilla chips.

Ingredients

  • vegetable oil for frying
  • 8 (10 inch) flour tortillas, each cut into 8 triangles

Instructions

  1. Heat 1/2 inch of oil in a heavy 10-inch skillet over medium heat until 360 degrees F (182 degrees C)
  2. about 8 minutes.
  3. Lower tortilla triangles carefully into the hot oil in batches; fry
  4. turning frequently
  5. until golden brown
  6. about 2 to 3 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Repeat with remaining tortilla triangles.

Cook Time: 10 mins

Total Time: 20 mins
