  • 4 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 (14 ounce) cans beef broth
  • ½ cup white wine
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 6 slices French bread
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
