Egg Custard Pie III

Description

I’m 78, and this was my grandmother’s pie. Good served warmed up with whipped cream and a dash of nutmeg on top, or great served cold.

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • ¼ cup butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch single crust pie

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C).
  2. Bake pie crust in the preheated oven until partially baked
  3. about 5 minutes. Set aside.
  4. Adjust oven temperature to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  5. Combine sugar
  6. milk
  7. melted butter
  8. flour
  9. vanilla
  10. and nutmeg in a large bowl; mix well. Beat in eggs until well blended. Pour filling into partially baked pie shell.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean
  12. 45 to 55 minutes. Do not overbake.
