Darn Good Chili

Description

Best chili concoction this side of the Rio Grande! Not for the faint of heart.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • ½ red bell pepper, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can peeled and diced tomatoes
  • 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, drained
  • 1 cup spaghetti sauce
  • 1 cup salsa
  • ¼ cup taco sauce

Instructions

  1. Cook ground beef
  2. onion
  3. and bell pepper in a large stockpot over medium-high heat until beef is browned
  4. 7 to 10 minutes. Drain off excess fat.
  5. Stir in diced tomatoes
  6. spaghetti sauce
  7. salsa
  8. taco sauce
  9. chili powder
  10. garlic
  11. and bay leaf. Reduce the heat and simmer
  12. stirring occasionally
  13. for 1 1/2 hours.
  14. Stir in kidney beans and cook until heated through
  15. 3 to 5 minutes. Discard bay leaf and serve.
