Danish Rugbrod (Rye Bread) for the Bread Machine

My mother in-law’s recipe. From Denmark, with love.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups rye flour
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • ¼ cup rye flakes (Optional)
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons bread machine yeast

Instructions

  1. Put water
  2. honey
  3. butter
  4. salt
  5. rye flour
  6. all-purpose flour
  7. whole wheat flour
  8. rye flakes
  9. sugar
  10. and yeast
  11. respectively
  12. into the pan of your bread machine.
  13. Select Basic setting and press Start.
