Currywurst Sauce

Description

This is an adaptation of a recipe I found that has been changed to make it a little quicker and easier. It tastes just like the sauce served on the fried bratwurst at my favorite local German restaurant. Use hot curry powder if you like it a bit spicier or add some cayenne for a kick.

Ingredients

  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • ¼ cup cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sweet curry powder
  • 2 tablespoons sweet paprika
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar, or more to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper, or more to taste (Optional)
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine tomato sauce
  2. cider vinegar
  3. curry powder
  4. paprika
  5. sugar
  6. cayenne pepper
  7. salt
  8. and pepper together in a saucepan over medium heat; cook
  9. stirring occasionally
  10. until sauce is warmed and smooth
  11. 5 to 10 minutes.
