Description
Growing up in a small Michigan town with a large Polish population, these sloppy joes seemed to be at every wedding, graduation, and funeral. Slightly sweet with a little tang, just like potato chips, you can’t eat just one!
Ingredients
- 1 drizzle olive oil
- 1 small sweet onion, diced
- 3 pounds lean ground beef
- 1 ¼ cups ketchup
- ¼ cup prepared yellow mustard
- ¼ cup white vinegar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- salt and ground black pepper to taste
- 10 hamburger buns, split
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large pan
- skillet
- or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Saute onion in the hot oil until softened
- about 5 minutes. Add beef; cook and stir until browned and crumbly
- 5 to 7 minutes. Drain off any excess fat.
- Stir ketchup
- mustard
- vinegar
- brown sugar
- Worcestershire sauce
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- salt
- and pepper into the pan; mix until thoroughly combined. Let simmer over low heat
- 15 to 20 minutes. Adjust salt and pepper to your liking.
- Serve on hamburger buns.
