Classic Alfredo Sauce

Description

A satisfying sauce you can use on any type of pasta – dry or fresh.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 8 fluid ounces heavy whipping cream
  • salt to taste
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Romano cheese
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Mix in cream
  2. stirring constantly. Add Parmesan cheese
  3. Romano cheese
  4. nutmeg
  5. and salt; stir constantly until cheese has melted.
  6. Stir in egg yolk until well combined; simmer and stir over medium-low heat for 3 to 5 minutes. Garnish with additional grated Parmesan cheese
  7. if desired.
