Cinnamon Honeybun Cake

Description

This delicious cake tastes just like a cinnamony honeybun!

Ingredients

  • 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 4 eggs
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¾ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (Optional)
  • 3 cups confectioners’ sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat an oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease a 9×13-inch cake pan.
  2. In a bowl
  3. whisk together the cake mix
  4. buttermilk
  5. eggs
  6. baking soda
  7. and vegetable oil until thoroughly combined. In a separate bowl
  8. stir the brown sugar and cinnamon together. Pour batter into the prepared cake pan
  9. and spoon the cinnamon sugar onto the batter in several places. Using the spoon
  10. gently swirl the cinnamon sugar into the cake batter
  11. leaving streaks and ribbons of sugar mixture (do not overmix).
  12. Bake cake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean
  13. 30 to 35 minutes. Remove cake from oven
  14. and punch holes all over the cake with a table knife.
  15. Whisk milk
  16. vanilla extract
  17. and confectioners’ sugar together in a bowl to form a smooth
  18. runny icing; pour the icing all over the cake
  19. allowing it to soak into the holes. Allow cake to cool before serving.
