Chunky Marinara Sauce

Description

You’ll love this Marinara sauce! This is great with fried eggplant or meatballs. I’m sure you could add ground meat if you wanted to make a meat sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can peeled and diced tomatoes
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic and cook 2 to 4 minutes until crisp-tender
  2. stirring frequently.
  3. Mix in diced tomatoes
  4. tomato sauce
  5. sugar
  6. oregano and salt. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer 15 to 20 minutes or until flavors are blended
  7. stirring frequently.
