Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake

Description

A tasty sour cream coffee cake with a streak of chocolate chips in the middle.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch pan.
  2. Stir flour
  3. baking powder
  4. and baking soda together in a medium bowl. Combine chocolate chips
  5. 1/2 cup sugar
  6. and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  7. Cream remaining 1 cup sugar and butter in a large bowl with an electric mixer. Mix in eggs
  8. sour cream
  9. and vanilla until well combined. Mix in flour mixture until incorporated; batter will be thick.
  10. Spread 1/2 of the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle 1/2 of the chocolate chip mixture over top. Repeat layers once more.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean
  12. 25 to 30 minutes.
  13. Remove from the oven and place onto a wire rack to cool.
