Carolina Style Low Carb Barbecue Sauce

Description

This is a South Carolina style barbecue sauce that I altered to go with a low carb diet

Ingredients

  • 1 cup prepared yellow mustard
  • ½ cup granular no-calorie sucralose sweetener (e.g., Splenda ®)
  • ¾ cup cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon liquid smoke flavoring

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat
  2. stir together mustard
  3. sweetener
  4. cider vinegar
  5. chili powder
  6. black pepper
  7. white pepper
  8. and cayenne pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes.
  9. Stir in soy sauce
  10. butter
  11. and liquid smoke; simmer for 10 more minutes. Cool completely; refrigerate overnight to blend flavors before using.
