Caramel Frosting I

Description

I have had this recipe for over 30 years. Cream may be substituted for the milk for added richness.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar and 3 tablespoons milk. Boil vigorously for 1 minute.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar. Cool slightly
  3. then beat in vanilla and remaining 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar. Add more milk if mixture is too thick.

Cook Time: 5 mins

Total Time: 15 mins
