Candied Carrots

Description

My family’s favorite vegetable. They are great for the holidays, too!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound carrots, cut into 2 inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons butter, diced
  • ΒΌ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place carrots in a pot of salted water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a low boil and cook until tender but not mushy
  2. 20 to 30 minutes. Drain and return carrots to the pot.
  3. Place the pot with carrots over the lowest possible heat setting. Stir in brown sugar
  4. butter
  5. salt
  6. and pepper. Cook until sugar is bubbly
  7. 3 to 5 minutes. Serve hot.
