Buttermilk Pie

Description

This old-fashioned pie is wonderful to freeze and to have on hand for unexpected guests!

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • ⅛ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Beat eggs until frothy. Add sugar
  3. butter
  4. and flour and beat until smooth.
  5. Stir in buttermilk
  6. lemon juice
  7. vanilla
  8. and nutmeg. Pour into pie shell.
  9. Bake until center is firm
  10. 40 to 60 minutes.
  11. Remove from the oven and cool for 1 hour before serving.
