Butter Pound Cake

Description

This is a real rich pound cake which is tasty alone or with ice cream or a fruit topping such as peaches.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 cups white sugar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 pint heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons lemon extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan.
  2. With an electric mixer
  3. cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs
  4. one at a time
  5. and mix well.
  6. Add flour
  7. 1 cup at a time
  8. while adding cream
  9. a little at a time
  10. until well mixed.
  11. Add vanilla and lemon flavoring; blend well. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
  12. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 1/2 hours
  13. or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean; turn out onto a wire rack to cool.
