Beef Paprika

Description

This is a recipe my Aunt always makes. It has some weird ingredients, but tastes great. Serve over egg noodles or rice.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup shortening
  • 2 pounds lean beef chuck, trimmed and cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ¾ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon mustard powder
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup water

Instructions

  1. Melt shortening in large skillet over medium high heat. Add meat
  2. onion
  3. and garlic; cook and stir until meat is browned.
  4. Stir in ketchup
  5. Worcestershire sauce
  6. brown sugar
  7. salt
  8. paprika
  9. mustard and 1 1/2 cup water. Reduce heat
  10. cover
  11. and simmer 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
  12. Blend flour and 1/4 cup water. Stir into meat. Heat to boiling
  13. stirring constantly. Serve hot.

Total Time: 2 hrs 40 mins
