Amazing Buttermilk Air Fried Chicken

Description

Take your fried chicken to a healthier level with this buttermilk air fried chicken. I used boneless, skinless chicken thighs, so if you use bone-in the cook time will be different.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ teaspoon hot sauce
  • ⅓ cup tapioca flour
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 pound skinless, boneless chicken thighs

Instructions

  1. Combine buttermilk and hot sauce in a shallow dish; mix to combine.
  2. Combine tapioca flour
  3. garlic salt
  4. and 1/8 teaspoon black pepper in a resealable plastic bag and shake to combine.
  5. Beat egg in a shallow bowl.
  6. Mix flour
  7. salt
  8. brown sugar
  9. garlic powder
  10. paprika
  11. onion powder
  12. oregano
  13. and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper in a gallon-sized resealable bag and shake to combine.
  14. Dip chicken thighs into prepared ingredients in the following order: buttermilk mixture
  15. tapioca mixture
  16. egg
  17. and flour mixture
  18. shaking off excess after each dipping.
  19. Preheat an air fryer to 380 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper.
  20. Place coated chicken thighs in batches into the air fryer basket and fry for 10 minutes. Turn chicken thighs and fry until chicken is no longer pink in the center and juices run clear
  21. an additional 10 minutes.
