Grandma Jeanette’s Amazing German Red Cabbage

Description

This yummy, sweet and sour German red cabbage is easy to make!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 5 cups shredded red cabbage
  • 1 cup sliced green apples
  • ⅓ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions

  1. Place cabbage
  2. apples
  3. sugar
  4. and butter into a large pot. Pour in vinegar and water
  5. then add salt
  6. pepper
  7. and cloves. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  8. Reduce heat to low
  9. cover
  10. and simmer until the cabbage is tender
  11. 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
