White Sauce

Description

I learned to make white sauce in Home Ec too many years ago to count. It can be used as a base for lots of dishes. I use it for macaroni and cheese for my granddaughter.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Whisk in flour to form a thick paste; cook and stir until golden in color
  2. about 5 to 7 minutes.
  3. Whisk in 1 cup milk; cook and stir until thickened
  4. about 5 minutes more. Add more milk to reach desired consistency.

Cook Time: 10 mins

Total Time: 15 mins
