Simple Custard

Description

This is my own alteration of a few different recipes. Not too rich or too sweet as many egg custards can be. Can be served warm immediately or cold.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 4 eggs
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Cook and stir milk
  2. vanilla extract
  3. and butter in a saucepan over medium heat until simmering. Remove mixture from heat before it comes to a boil.
  4. Whisk eggs
  5. sugar
  6. and cornstarch together in a bowl until sugar dissolves.
  7. Set saucepan back over low heat. Pour in egg mixture slowly
  8. whisking constantly
  9. until custard thickens enough to coat the bottom of a spoon
  10. 5 to 10 minutes.

Cook Time: 10 mins

Total Time: 15 mins
