Bourbon Fig Compote

Description

A sweet and tangy compote that is excellently paired with a blue cheese or Brie. Serve with crackers.

Ingredients

  • 7 ounces dried Mission figs, diced
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ¼ cup bourbon whiskey
  • ¼ cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 pinch salt

Instructions

  1. Combine figs
  2. sugar
  3. whiskey
  4. balsamic vinegar
  5. lemon juice
  6. and salt in a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until liquid reduces by half
  7. about 30 minutes. Cool before serving.
