Classic Contadina® Spaghetti Sauce

Description

This classic pasta sauce with lots of tomatoes and Italian sausage served on hot cooked pasta makes a quick, satisfying dinner any night of the week.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Italian sausage (casings removed), or extra lean ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 (28 ounce) can CONTADINA® Crushed Tomatoes
  • 1 (15 ounce) can CONTADINA® Tomato Sauce
  • 1 cup chopped fresh mushrooms
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • 1 pound Cooked pasta

Instructions

  1. Combine sausage
  2. onion and garlic in a large skillet. Cook over medium-high heat 4 to 5 minutes or until sausage is no longer pink inside
  3. stirring to break up sausage.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes
  5. tomato sauce
  6. mushrooms
  7. oregano
  8. basil
  9. salt
  10. sugar.
  11. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low; cook
  12. uncovered
  13. 30 minutes. Serve over hot cooked pasta.
