Yellow Birthday Cake

Description

Makes a lovely and moist 8-inch cake. Double the recipe for a layer cake.

Ingredients

  • 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ⅓ cups cake flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • ½ cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Butter and flour one 8-inch cake pan.
  2. Cream butter and sugar together in a bowl until fluffy. Add vanilla extract. Beat in eggs 1 at a time.
  3. Sift flour
  4. baking powder
  5. and salt together into a bowl 3 times. Add flour mixture to egg mixture in 3 additions
  6. alternating with milk and ending with flour mixture. Pour batter into the prepared cake pan.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown
  8. 45 to 60 minutes.
