Description
Makes a lovely and moist 8-inch cake. Double the recipe for a layer cake.
Ingredients
- 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1 ⅓ cups cake flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
- ½ cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Butter and flour one 8-inch cake pan.
- Cream butter and sugar together in a bowl until fluffy. Add vanilla extract. Beat in eggs 1 at a time.
- Sift flour
- baking powder
- and salt together into a bowl 3 times. Add flour mixture to egg mixture in 3 additions
- alternating with milk and ending with flour mixture. Pour batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown
- 45 to 60 minutes.
