Chai Cream Cake with Cinnamon-Chai Frosting

Description

Coffee creamer and chai latte powder is added to white cake mix to create a delicious and moist chai-flavored cake. Can be served plain or with cinnamon chai frosting.

Ingredients

  • 1 (18.25 ounce) package white cake mix with pudding
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¼ cup instant chai latte powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • 1 cup melted butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • ¼ cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 cups confectioners’ sugar, sifted
  • 3 tablespoons chai-flavored coffee creamer, or more to taste
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon instant chai latte powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch cake pan.
  2. Mix cake mix

  6. and salt together in a large bowl using a fork. Set aside.
  7. Combine sour cream
  8. melted butter
  9. eggs
  10. heavy cream
  11. and vanilla extract together in a bowl using an electric mixer. Add flour mixture and mix on medium speed for 1 minute; scrape down sides of bowl and mix about 1 minute more. Pour into the prepared pan.
  12. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean
  13. 35 to 40 minutes.
  14. Beat butter in a bowl using an electric mixer until fluffy. Slowly add confectioners’ sugar

  16. and vanilla extract. Mix well. Add cinnamon and chai latte powder and mix using low speed until frosting is smooth.
  17. Allow cake to cool completely
  18. about 1 hour
  19. before frosting.
