Wife Pastry (Lo Po Bang)

Description

An Asian snack that is particularly popular in Hong Kong. Usually consisting of two types of dough to make a flaky pastry. A popular tea time treat for my family!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cake flour
  • ⅔ cup confectioners’ sugar
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 cups cake flour

  • ½ cup vegetable shortening
  • 1 cup candied waxgourd
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 ½ cups sweet rice flour (mochiko)
  • ¾ cup superfine sugar
  • ¼ cup sesame seeds, toasted
  • ¼ cup vegetable shortening
  • ⅔ cup water
  • 1 egg yolk, beaten

Cook Time: 45 mins

Total Time: 2 hrs 30 mins
