Strawberry Shortcake Filling

Description

Strawberry shortcake filling. Store in the refrigerator.

Ingredients

  • 1 pint strawberries, cleaned and stemmed
  • ⅓ cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Cut 1/3 of the strawberries in half. Combine halved and whole strawberries
  2. sugar
  3. and vanilla extract in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Cook
  4. stirring occasionally
  5. until sauce thickens
  6. about 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
  7. Puree 1/3 of the sauce mixture carefully in an electric blender. Mix into the remaining sauce.
