Best Homemade Blackberry Pie

Description

A tasty blackberry pie, delicious with sweet or sour blackberries and simple and easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 prepared pastry for a single-crust pie

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Smash blackberries in a bowl until they are mostly liquid
  3. with only few chunks remaining.
  4. Combine sugar
  5. water
  6. cornstarch
  7. and lemon juice in a saucepan. Whisk out lumps and turn heat to high. Bring to a boil and stir; continue to cook for 3 minutes. Remove from heat. Add blackberries and mix together; set aside.
  8. Combine flour
  9. brown sugar
  10. salt
  11. and cinnamon in another bowl. Add butter and mix with your hands until clumpy and crumbly.
  12. Press pie pastry into a pie pan and add blackberry filling; top with crumble.
  13. Bake in the preheated oven until the bottom of the crust is cooked and golden
  14. 40 to 50 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool for filling to set
  15. about 1 hour.
